Annual Giving Campaign 2025-26

The Power of 7 (GIS)

On 1st September, 2025, Ghana International School turned 70 years old! As Ghana’s oldest international school, and one of the country’s most privileged, we are committed to maintaining the spirit of giving during our anniversary year.

Last academic year, we launched our first ever Annual Giving Campaign,  The Power of 7. You can read more about the causes we supported and how we allocated funds in our Impact Report from 2024-25.

This year, the Power of 7 is back with refreshed goals and campaigns, and
we would be honoured to have you support us in making an impact on
the community within and beyond Ghana International School. For the
2025-26 academic year, you can donate to The Power of 7 from Tuesday
7th October 2025 until the end of the academic year.

Unrestricted Donations

We partner with you to select a cause

This option for unrestricted donations allows the Fund Allocation Committee to distribute funds between this year’s four campaign causes according to critical needs. Donors will also be able to indicate their own selections between our causes, if they desire.

You can indicate “Unrestricted” when making your Power of 7. donations this year on our online giving campaign portal.

Hole-in-Heart Surgery

Since the 2005-06 academic year, Ghana International School has supported one child nearly every year, with financial assistance for hole-in-heart surgery. A nearly two decade-long partnership between GIS and the Children’s Heart Foundation ensures that children whose families cannot afford the life-saving operation on their own are consistently supported by GIS students and families.

This year, the Office of the CEO is driving the collection of contributions towards this cause, with the critical support of the Office of Careers, Counselling, and Community Life.

Programme and Facilities Enhancement

For more than 30 years, Ghana International School has provided weekly science lab access to students from La Anglican Senior High School. We also have long-standing and ongoing cultural and artistic educational
programmes for which we invite students from various schools to partner
with us.

By strengthening our internal resources, we can ensure that the highest quality of curricular and co-curricular education is available to GIS students as well as others. Our outreach programmes, including the weekly immersion of students from La Anglican SHS in the laboratory experience at GIS, will continue to make the lessons in their own schools more meaningful.

Supporting Teacher Professional Development in Ghana

For nearly a decade, Ghana International School has left its mark annually on Ghana’s education systems through the annual Transforming by Inspiring, Motivating, and Educating (TIME) Educators’ conference.

Attendees and facilitators engage in thought-provoking discussions, skill-building workshops, and are exposed to innovative learning experiences, led by members of the GIS faculty.

Funds raised in this category will support:

  1. The flagship TIME Educators’ Conference held annually at the GIS campus in Cantonments

  2. The TIME Impact Award – a grant awarded to an exceptional GES educator and their school

  3. The TIME North expansion of the annual conference, which is expanding the reach and benefits of the annual TIME Conference to educators based
in the northern regions of Ghana, beginning in April 2026.

Reserve Fund for GIS Learning Fellowships

Ghana International School’s learning fellowships are merit- and need-based scholarships which allow students from underserved communities to attend Ghana International School. These include boarding and tuition fees.

In June 2025, two GIS students, who were beneficiaries of the pilot GIS Learning Fellowships programme, graduated from Upper Sixth form at GIS.

This year, a portion of the funds raised in our Power of 7 campaign will be used to bolster a strategic reserve fund which was opened last academic year, with the aim of generating enough money to sponsor more fellowship students. Your support would ensure that in the near future, students who would otherwise have limited access to the benefits of a GIS education will be able to enjoy the full spectrum of all that GIS has to offer.
